What is eXind?
eXind (eXtended mind) is something between a personal Wiki and a container for all sorts of external documents. It can have relations between its items for structuring the informations.
- The data in eXind have to be accessible for a long period of time.
- I use computers for about 20 years now and all the stuff I had put in text-files has vanished through the time. Only some notes on ordinary paper survived. So :
- The database should be as simple as possible.
- A backup should be simply copying some files (or burning a CD)
- The file formats have to be simple.
- Nothing proprietary! Therefor eXind knows about HTML, his internal format, JPG, GIF,PNG
- Taking notes should be as simple as possible.
- eXind has a Wiki style editing "language", which is easy to convert to HTML (or later LaTeX)
For what do I use eXind ?
- for a daylog (to not forget, what custemers said etc.)
- for notes about ideas
- for prototyping all kinds of texts (documentation etc.)
- for small howto's
- for interesting stuff I discovered on the net
- for recipies
And I am sure, that I will discover new uses
